nostalgia
Yeah, I miss my old life. I miss the person I used to be.
Remember when things used to be so easy and life was so carefree? Heck, I remember those days just four years ago back in a now foreign land called Los Angeles. Those were days when the friendships you made were also those you know you’d also see at the end of the road in life—comrades, almost a love story. To this day, when we strike up conversation again, it’s like we never really stopped talking or left one another. Oh, how I long for those days past. But, I need to move forward and hope that those people still exist in front of me.
Talking to an old friend (10yrs is considered old now, right?) and talking about different things made me nostalgic of the things we used to have. He explained it as, “it is a yearning/longing for something in the past that can never be recovered.” here are some wishes:
I wish i had more time…
so we can have those 3am talks about random things in our apartment
so we can sharpen each other like we used to where it was a bunch of sinners trying not to
so we can have those random lunches and hang out till the afternoon without any worries
I wish for those friendships past…
so we would know that we’ll be there at each other’s death beds and funerals
so we know that I won’t be judged for the mistakes we make
so we can dream big dreams together
so we can plan how to focus our lives towards something bigger
I wish for simple and uncluttered, unassuming relationships
I wish for more friends who simply want to know how one another is doing, even if it’s out of their way
I wish that we would all just look beyond ourselves
I wish that bridges aren’t so easily burned.
Hey, I like the new look & feel of your site. How do you like Squible so far?
Your list is a pretty heavy one. I “wish” that many of the items could have an answer for you right now. But I also know that God often takes us through seasons… some of them darker than others, for a reason.
To the extent that we believe God is leading our lives, and that he has something glorious planned ahead (that will be far better than anything we have experienced)… that is the extent that we are able to move beyond the past. If we don’t believe, we cannot move foward.
So please take heart… the best is yet to come
thanks for your words, friend. we need to meet again. sometimes it’s hard not to be cynical when wishes don’t play out in life. alas… (shrug) we’ll just have to keep walking, i suppose. nevertheless, thanks for your words.
oh, and yes, i like squible. need to edit a bit and import some old content perhaps. we’ll see what happens with this blog thing.
