Digigigital Tuner (converters) are awesome
We don’t subscribe to any cable/satellite TV provider. I’m cheap that way, especially since we don’t watch much TV at home. Not that I don’t like TV, but we don’t get many channels, so it’s not worth much to watch.
My sister gave me a digital tuner yesterday. OMG. Automagically we got fourty-one (41!) channels! Sure, a bunch of them are espaƱol, but that’s about five times as many channels as we got before–and for cheap, no less! Oh, and crystal clear!!
We got the RCA Digital TV Converter Box, DTA800 (one of the best-reviewed), with the Government Digital Converter Rebate, came out to be $20 out of pocket. That’s less than you’d pay with cable/satellite tv!
You can tell I’m stoked. Outside of your cable channels, you can save a ton by just buying the digital converter.
We were just thinking of going the cableless route. With all these alternatives out there, its very practical now.
not to mention a lot cheaper. no monthlies!
sounds cool. i’m curious about what you get content-wise that’s good.
well, we’re big PBS fans (since we’re too cheap to get Discovery), so, lots and lots (more than two) PBS channels. They’ve even got an encore sort of PBS channels for old stuff. There’s also, of course, a slew of Spanish channels.
i searched for a list of channels, but can’t find anything outside PBS stuff.
